Program Overview
For ministries, school networks, and universities, the question is no longer if AI will influence teaching and learning, but how well educators are prepared to respond to it — ethically, responsibly and effectively.
This Canadian built certificate of achievement enables educators to build informed, critical, and practical competence with AI in education. Rather than promoting AI uncritically, the program creates space for informed, professional examination of AI tools, policies, risks, and opportunities so institutions can guide, not react to, AI adoption in learning environments.
Delivery & Structure
- Hybrid online: 12 hours asynchronous + 6 hours synchronous (total 18 hours)
- Weekly discussions following self-paced learning
- Competency-based assessment with 70% required in each quiz
- Open to international cohorts — no Canadian residency requirement

AI for Teaching
This module focuses on equipping participants with the skills to discern and evaluate a range of AI tools designed for educators, fostering informed decision-making in the integration of these technologies to enhance teaching practices. Participants will also learn to identify potential copyright challenges associated with AI tools in education and implement strategies to mitigate these responsibly. Additionally, the module will engage participants in discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing AI as a teaching tool, fostering a nuanced understanding of its benefits and challenges in educational contexts.
AI for Learning
In this module, participants will explore a variety of AI tools and applications available to students, gaining a thorough understanding of their features and functionalities. The module will provide insights into diverse scenarios where these tools can be effectively utilized, enhancing participants' grasp of their practical applications in educational contexts. By the end of this module, participants will be proficient in discussing various AI tools available to students, demonstrating an understanding of their respective advantages and disadvantages in educational settings.
AI Ethics and Integrity: Preventing Misuse
This module provides a comprehensive understanding of contemporary forms of cheating facilitated by digital tools and platforms, enabling educators to recognize and address new challenges in maintaining academic integrity. Additionally, the module will explore proactive measures and preventative strategies to minimize cheating through AI-based interventions, fostering an environment that discourages dishonest practices and promotes academic honesty.
AI & Adaptive Learning
In this module, participants will explore and evaluate various AI options for adaptive learning, empowering them to make informed decisions on selecting and implementing suitable technologies in educational contexts. The module will also involve a critical examination of the benefits and challenges associated with AI in adaptive learning, enabling participants to make well-informed decisions about its use. By the end of this module, participants will be able to engage in informed discussions, articulating a nuanced understanding of how AI can effectively support adaptive learning and analyzing its potential benefits and challenges.
The BIG question
This module will enable participants to critically analyze and articulate the ethical considerations surrounding the use of AI in education, addressing issues such as privacy, bias, and equity. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about integrating AI in educational settings by exploring these significant questions, allowing them to navigate complex issues and implement AI solutions responsibly and ethically. Additionally, the module will foster the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including students, parents, and the broader community, in open dialogues about the big questions related to AI in education.
